The letters behind the practice

CMT and NMT, decoded.

Two acronyms that quietly show up after a lot of massage therapists' names. Here's what they actually mean — and what they mean for what happens on the table.

CMT

Certified Massage Therapist

California Massage Therapy Council#72502

California's statewide certification — proof of trained hands and an accountable record.

  • A voluntary statewide certification — held in good standing
  • 500+ hours of accredited training before issuance
  • Continuing-education requirements and a clean professional record

NMT

Advanced Neuromuscular Massage Therapist

National Holistic InstituteDiploma No. 1120-751

A 1,350-hour advanced diploma in neuromuscular work — the deep-clinical side of massage.

  • 1,350-hour advanced diploma program (the deep-end of bodywork training)
  • Specialization in trigger point, myofascial release, and orthopedic protocols
  • Also licensed as a Health Educator — every session teaches what the body is doing

Massage in California is regulated by the California Massage Therapy Council — you can verify any CMT's certification by name and number on its public registry.

What brings you in

Conditions I work with

Most clients arrive because something has been holding for a while. These are the patterns I see and treat most often.

  • TMJ

Jaw tension carries into temples, neck, and shoulders — released layer by layer.

  • Headache & Migraine

Many headaches start in soft-tissue holding patterns in the neck and scalp.

  • Arthritis

Gentle range-of-motion work eases load on joints without forcing.

  • Carpal Tunnel

Forearm, wrist, and hand work to decompress without surgery as the first step.

  • Sciatica

Soft-tissue release around the piriformis and glutes, plus stretch protocols.

  • Whiplash

Layered neuromuscular work for the cervical chain and shoulder girdle.

  • Numbness & Tingling

Working back from compressed nerves through the muscle and fascia above them.

  • Neuropathy

Reflexology and circulation work to support symptomatic relief.

  • Anxiety

Breath work, guided meditation, and slow nervous-system-down regulation.

  • Depression

Mind, body, and spirit — touch and presence as adjunct support, never replacement.

  • Back & Neck Pain

Most common reason people come in — usually a layered postural pattern.

  • Shoulder & Hip Pain

Sharp or dull. Sports, sleep posture, and old injuries all leave fingerprints.

A few of the modalities

Trained at two California massage schools, working integratively.

The space

The Evergreen Healing Room.

One quiet room. White linens, warm light, sheer curtains that catch the late sun. A pre-decompression chair, a Theragun, real essential oils, a basket of warm stones. Rose quartz on the vanity. Dried lavender in a dark vase. Nothing here is rushed.

Sessions are 60, 90, or 120 minutes — long enough to do real work, not just relax around the issue.

Step inside the room

The space outside

And a small zen garden on the way in.

Old shade trees, stone-and-pebble paths, a bamboo gateway, succulents along every edge, a barrel of moving water. The session begins when you step through the gate.
